In remediating my glossary definition of the word “sick”, I chose to take a more current approach using Twitter. While the word “sick” has many sub-meanings, I chose just four different meanings from both the Oxford English Dictionary and the Urban Dictionary. After selecting which definitions to use, I paired each with a tweet. This method to reshape and modernize my definition of the word “sick” allows for viewers to see how the word is used on a daily basis. Using Twitter, a widely popular social media site that many young people use multiple times each day, was a way to show people how frequently the word is “tweeted” in different contexts. Besides the basic structure of the content in my Prezi, I also added animations to create an overall mood. By having the different slides transition in swirling patterns, I attempted to make the viewer feel slightly sick by the end since the Prezi’s focus was the definition of “sick”.
